A first for Stephen

Stephen Kirk became the latest member of St Paul’s Lodge No 5459, at a meeting attended by over 25 members and guests. The WM Les Williams welcomed the brethren and wished them all a very pleasant evening. The initiation ceremony which followed was conducted in an excellent and sincere manner.

The lodge was opened by Les who completed the normal business of the lodge before a reading of the fourth charge of a Freemason was given by Tom Brown. A ballot for three initiates was then taken which proved successful for all.

Having being prepared for the ceremony, Stephen was admitted into the lodge room and was guided through his initiation by acting junior deacon Ian Morris in a most reassuring and composed manner that put the candidate at ease.

A fine explanation of the working tools of the first degree was given by Chris Farley.

Stephen was then presented with the book of constitutions and the by-laws of the lodge, before retiring to restore himself to his personal comfort. On his return to the lodge the ancient charges of a Freemason were delivered by the assistant director of ceremonies David Clews, in an exemplary manner.

The lodge was then closed in due form, following which the brethren retired to the Peter W Browne Suite for the festive board.
