For a very special event, over 80 brethren gathered in the McCausland Suite at Widnes Masonic Hall to witness the inaugural installation ceremony of Athenaeum Lodge No 9386 in its new role as the Lodge of the West Lancashire Masonic Charity.
The lodge was opened by Stephen Kayne, assisted by the officers of the lodge. Following the opening the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison was welcomed into the lodge. John Cross, Vice Chairman of the North Fylde Group, presented the master elect Peter Mann, who was then installed as the WM by Stephen Kayne in a shortened but excellent, sincere and enjoyable ceremony.
Once installed, the WM, Peter Mann, proceeded to appoint his officers. He was delighted to have the opportunity to appoint Tony Harrison as senior steward of the lodge, a role that he was extremely happy to accept. The address to the brethren of Athenaeum Lodge was given by the Provincial Grand Master.
Following on from the addresses, Peter Mann then presented a cheque for £400 for the MCF 2021 to Tony Harrison.
At the close of the installation ceremony 82 brethren attended the festive board in the Alan Locke Suite and where treated to an excellent meal. Kevin Peter Poynton proposed the toast to the health of the Provincial Grand Master, Tony Harrison. In his response, Tony wished the master and brethren of Athenaeum Lodge all the best of health and success for the future.

Peter Whalley entertained the assembled brethren with the master’s song after which the WM thanked the brethren of Athenaeum Lodge for giving him the opportunity of being installed as master of the lodge. The junior warden Paul McLachlan proposed the health to the Provincial Grand Officers and John Karren, in turn was delighted to respond on behalf of the assembled Provincial Grand Officers. It was announced that the raffle together with the charity plate had raised a magnificent total of £622.
