Two lodges join forces for annual social

Victoria Lodge No 4629 along with Equity and Appleton Lodge No 1384 came together in the Alan Locke Suite at Widnes Masonic Hall for their annual social and was supported by 70 members and guests. To get everybody into the party mood the proceedings started with a game of stand up bingo. The last person standing was Norma Black who received the prize of £60.

Now that everybody was sat down, grace was offered which was followed by a carvery consisting of a choice of starters, several meats (turkey, beef, pork and ham) with seasonal vegetables and followed by a selection of sweets with tea or coffee and mince pies.

The entertainment was provided by DJ Ian from Lawro’s disco who played a variety of music to suit all tastes, enticing guests to the dance floor. Offering a brief respite from the dancing, there was a raffle with a selection of prizes being donated by lodge members. This was followed by a bottle roll contest with guests eager to roll their pound as near to the bottle as possible. This was eventually won by Peter Carter.

The evening was well organised by Matt Baldwin and Ian Edge with thanks going to Pat and her staff of “Sugar and Spice Catering” and Sandra at the bar for ensuring everybody was fed and served with drinks throughout the evening. Matt and Ian thanked everybody for their generosity which raised a grand total of £360 for the charities which was divided equally between the two lodges.

Following the meal and customary toasts, the disco continued with guests dancing until the evening came to an end and an enjoyable evening was had by all.
