The now well established Children’s Christmas Party, again organised by Sandra Prescot, the bar manager, was held in the Alan Locke Suite at Widnes Masonic Hall. The hall was filled with 68 excited children accompanied by their eagerly excited parents, grandparents, friends and family.
The children and grandchildren of the group members enjoyed a full afternoon of entertainment provided by ‘Mad Merv’, assisted by ‘Ninja Leonardo’, who kept the party fun going with lots of fun, loads of party games and balloon modelling. To ensure their energy levels were kept to a high level, a party pack with a drink that had been prepared by Sugar and Spice Catering, was provided for each child, all served by Santa’s little helpers.
Having enjoyed their party food, the children were just as eager to get back to more fun and games, including pass the parcel, with prizes for all and spin the plate. After all the fun and games, the sound of bells and a hearty Yo Ho Ho could be heard as Santa and his trusty elf arrived with sacks of presents. The noise could be heard miles away when Father Christmas arrived and got a tremendous welcome from all the children. Santa took his seat and proceeded to present a Christmas gift for each of the children just to keep the excitement going until the big day arrives.
Excitement for parents and grandparents came, when a raffle that had been organised by Sandra to raise money for the party, was drawn just before Santa arrived. The lucky winner of the sprit and wine hamper was Chris Farley and Alan Pattinson won a silver necklace.
As the afternoon came to a close some tired children and very tired parents and grandparents said a goodbye to Santa, that is, until Christmas day.
A huge thank you is owed to Sandra and all the little helpers for all their efforts and hard work in putting together the Christmas party, which was yet again another very successful event. And not forgetting the hall directors, the group, lodges and chapters and individuals who kindly gave donations and supported the event.
