Widnes Group Charity Stewards met for a presentation of their roles for the MCF 2021 Festival. The presentation was given by Derek Rooney, regional charity steward for the group. He was assisted by Ian Lynch, Widnes Group Charity Steward. Also in attendance was Neil Pedder, Widnes Group Chairman and group secretary John Gibbon.
The purpose of the festival, which will commence in May 2017, is to raise significant funds for the newly formed Masonic Charitable Foundation. The MFC brings together the four national charities; The Grand Charity, The Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, The Masonic Samaritan Fund and The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution.
A message from the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison stated that he was delighted on behalf of the Province of West Lancashire to accept the invitation of the newly formed Masonic Charitable Foundation to arrange a festival in support of their work and for our Province to have the privilege to be the first to be invited to do so.
Derek proceeded to explain how the festival is going to work and its structure from the role of the Province down to the charity stewards and members.
The next part of the presentation gave a breakdown of the levels of patronage, starting with Steward up to Grand Patron, and how each is achieved by the amount of donation received over the course of the festival. Next came the most important part of the presentation, on how to fill in all the various forms required for the festival by the charity stewards, brethren and companions. This was explained in detail to ensure a clear understanding of what is required
The Province has commissioned a ‘Festival Jewel’ for which the Provincial Grand Master is very proud of the fact that the Provincial coat of arms can be used for the first time on the Festival Jewel.
The concluding part of the presentation was information regarding the new merchandise available; Provincial ties and pocket squares, cufflinks etc. These can be purchased through the Provincial shop on the Provincial website http://www.westlancsfreemasons.org.uk/provincial-shop/ or from the charity stewards.
Additional information about the festival can be obtained via the Provincial website;
Derek closed to presentation by thanking all those brethren and companions for their support and attendance.
