Michael William Lea has become the newest member of St Paul’s Lodge No 5459. In attendance to witness the proceedings were 50 members and guests, including group chairman Derek Williams, vice chairman Neil Pedder and group secretary John Gibbon.
The master of the lodge Alan Locke invited Dave Berrington to occupy the master’s chair for the ceremony and Barry Collinson was invited to occupy the senior warden’s chair.
At the appropriate time Michael Lea was admitted in due form and regularly initiated into Freemasonry by David and was guided through the initiation ceremony by junior deacon Neil Worthington, assisted by the senior deacon Guy Yarwood. David directed Michael to the JW Les Williams who gave a fine explaination of the working tools in the first degree.
Following the explanation Michael retired from the lodge and on his return David Clews delivered the charge after initiation in an equally fine manner and this then concluded the ceremony of initiation.
Dave asked that the minutes should record his personal thanks to the WM for being allowed to conduct the initiation ceremony of Michael, who is a close personal friend. This is the second initiation ceremony that David has carried out in three months as he initiated Peter Crosby into St Paul’s Lodge in November 2015.
The WM then resumed his rightful place in the master’s chair and the lodge was then closed in due form. There then followed a delightful meal at a very convivial and happy festive board in the Peter W Browne Suite at Widnes Masonic Hall.
