A warm welcome from Neil Pedder
The Widnes Group of Lodges and Chapters is one of 21 groups within the Province of West Lancashire, which is the largest Masonic Province in the World in respect of the number of lodges. The lodges and chapters in Widnes Group meet at the Masonic Hall, Kingsway, Widnes. It is the home of seven lodges and four chapters. There are also 13 Masonic side degrees which use the building as their meeting place.
Freemasonry is well established in the Widnes area with our oldest Lodge being formed in 1872. Although some traditions have been upheld over the years, we are continuing to move with modern times as you will see here on our website.
2017 heralds the tercentenary of Freemasonry and celebrations will be held in every Masonic Province under the auspices of the United Grand Lodge of England. This marks the 300th anniversary of Freemasonry in the modern era but its history extends much further back in time and well before 1717.
I trust that you find the website to be user-friendly and I hope that it will encourage you to become more involved with the Group either as a lodge or chapter member or as a visitor. All our lodge and chapter meetings are listed on our Group Calendar page.
We shall also publish details of our social events from time to time. These social events have a warm and friendly atmosphere to which our partners, family and friends are most welcome.
If you are not a Mason, I hope our Website will raise your awareness of Freemasonry and what it truly stands for. If this is the case and you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are very approachable and sociable and would be only too happy to talk to you on a more personal level. Any questions and/or contact details can be left on the relevant pages.
Once again thank you for sharing your time with us and I hope you enjoy your visit our website.
