The second Lodge of Equity and Appleton No 1384 Beer Festival goes with a tasty flow. Organiser of the event, Brian Rafferty, said that he was quite pleased with the day as there had been a steady stream of beer connoisseurs throughout the day. Beer tasting was from 12:00 to 10:30pm and on hand to serve the beer buffs with their choice of beer and to offer advice if needed, were Brian Rafferty, David Penney, Ian Edge and Jane Penny.
Liverpool Organic Brewery did a fine job in providing a great range of 20 beers, five of which came from them, with an ABV range from 3.8 to 6.5 to tantalise the taste buds. In all, beers from eight different micro breweries were represented, all with their own individual style, taste, colour and all brewed to perfection using hops and malts from all over the world. There were also three ciders on tap for those who liked something different.
Sponsorship for 14 of the beers came from local businesses and Brian said that he was very grateful to them for their support. All the profit from the event will be split equally between Widnes Masonic Hall and the lodge charity funds.
